The Friends of the Charit\u00e9 are passionate about supporting the Charit\u00e9-Universit\u00e4tsmedizin Berlin. Our commitment is aimed at improving patient care, promoting innovative projects and supporting the needs of those who work for the well-being of patients on a daily basis.<\/p>\n

We specifically support projects that contribute to better patient care. These include the purchase of modern medical equipment, support for research projects and the funding of further education and training for medical staff.<\/p>\n

THE CHARIT\u00c9 PATIENT AWARDS<\/h4>\n

For many years, the Friends of the Charit\u00e9 have presented the prestigious Patient Awards to recognize outstanding achievements in healthcare. These special awards are based on the results of comprehensive patient surveys and internal evaluation criteria. Each year, three wards are selected whose staff have shown exceptional commitment and outstanding patient care.<\/p>\n

The award-winning wards do not only receive the coveted award, but also vouchers for a team event of their choice as additional recognition. These events offer the teams the opportunity to celebrate their outstanding work and further strengthen their team spirit. The Friends of the Charit\u00e9 are proud to recognize the important work of employees through these awards and to reward their continuous efforts to provide excellent patient care.<\/p>\n

SUPPORT FOR THE FAMILY DEPARTMENT<\/h4>\n

We support the Charit\u00e9’s Family Unit in order to facilitate a better work-life balance. This includes childcare projects and other measures to help employees reconcile their family commitments with their career.<\/p>\n

COMMITMENT TO THE CHILDHOOD-HAUS BERLIN<\/h4>\n

For several years, the Freundeskreis der Charit\u00e9 e.V. has been supporting the Childhood-Haus Berlin, a central point of contact for children and young people who have been victims of sexual abuse or severe physical violence. The Childhood-Haus provides interdisciplinary care and legal case assessment in instances where a police report has already been filed.<\/p>\n

Based on the Scandinavian “Barnahus” model, the Childhood-Haus brings together professionals from medicine, youth welfare services, the police, and the judiciary under one roof. Its aim is to provide the best possible protection for affected children and young people, prevent re-traumatisation during forensic interviews, and ensure access to their rights in a safe, child-friendly environment\u2014in line with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.<\/p>\n

The Childhood-Haus Berlin strengthens the child safeguarding network in the capital and was established under the auspices of Charit\u00e9 \u2013 Universit\u00e4tsmedizin Berlin, in collaboration with the World Childhood Foundation. The initiative also receives significant support from the Senate Department for Justice and Consumer Protection and the Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family.<\/p>\n

Through our support, we help ensure that affected children and young people receive the best possible care and assistance.<\/p>\n

THE CHARIT\u00c9 VOLUNTARY VISITING SERVICE<\/h4>\n

Imagine you suddenly had to go into hospital – perhaps even in a foreign city. Who would be there to talk to you, keep you company or help you with small errands?<\/p>\n

Under the motto \u2018I have time for you\u2019, the volunteers of the Charit\u00e9 Volunteer Visiting Service are committed to the three hospital sites in Mitte, Wedding and Steglitz. They not only offer practical support such as shopping, correspondence and telephone calls, but also go for walks with patients, read to them and have empathetic conversations.<\/p>\n
